About Me

Hi!  I’m Erin.  This is me, with my partner in travel and in life — my husband Andrew:

red tam

We’re Canadian.

Here’s the backstory:

I have/had awesome parents.  The older I get, the more I realize what an incredible gift that was.  They worked very hard to provide for me and my brothers, and they always planned to travel when they retired.  But, as they were easing into retirement and beginning to stretch their traveling legs, my dad passed away.

On the heels of this tremendous personal tragedy, we spent a lot of time reflecting, and realized that there actually wasn’t anything stopping us from traveling now.  Because… there might not be a tomorrow for us.

Soooooo…  You probably didn’t come to this page looking for this kind of a story, but it’s the truth.  The year after we lost my dad, we booked our first trip overseas… and we’ve been traveling ever since.

And I’ve been journaling about it ever since.  And I’ll now share our adventures via this blog.

    • Hi, Jo. The Treehouse was near Iquitos, in the Peruvian Amazon. It’s not really near Cusco. You have to fly there. I don’t think there are direct frights from Cusco to Iquitos, but you can connect in Lima. Here is the official website for the lodge. http://treehouselodge.com Iquitos is very remote, and it’s right on the Amazon river. There are lots of jungle lodges in the area and they can often pick you up from the airport. As far as I know this is the only treehouse lodge in that area. Let me know if you have any other questions! 🙂
